The Department for International Development (DFID), in partnership with SPRING, will host an evening reception on the theme ‘Rights, power and women’s bodies to kick off the Women Deliver 2019 Conference on 2 June 2019. During the session, UK High Commissioner, Susan Jane le Jeune d’Allegeershecque and the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Baroness Sugg will discuss how effective development programming can help advance adolescent female impact.
The session will also include a panel of live examples from a selection of East African and South Asian social businesses from the SPRING Accelerator, who will present their different approaches to transforming girl’s lives and open the floor to questions. An opportunity to further interact with the businesses will be available at an ideas fair that presents ideas on how to start a menstrual health revolution, improve girls’ safety and the rights of girls with special needs, which is going to be held at the end of the evening.
